HOW TO CREATE A GLOVE

FABRICS

  • Cut 1 piece of 45 × 35 cm from each of the two printed fabrics and the wadding.
  • Make the sandwich: fabric-wadding-fabric; hold the three layers together with pins.

QUILTING

  • Using an erasable marker or chalk, draw the first line diagonally.
  • Install the satin stitch foot F included with the machine and the optional quilting guide, ref: 802-422-002. You can also use the even feed foot with quilting guide, ref: 200-309-019.
  • Stitch the quilt, lengthening the stitch to 3 mm and reducing the presser foot pressure.
  • After sewing the first line, adjust your guide to the desired spacing for quilting.
  • Create cross quilting over the entire surface of your fabric.

JOINING THE SIDE SEAMS

  • Place the glove pattern and cut twice, adding 1 cm seam allowance all around.
  • Place the two sides of the glove against each other, choosing the colours you want for the right side, and sew one side of the glove together.
  • From the plain fabric, cut a strip of 5 × 45 cm.
  • Press in a 1 cm hem on each side.
  • Place the strip straddling the edge of the glove.
  • Allow the excess to overhang on the sides (suspend) and join it with a straight stitch then fold it back.
  • Stitch all along, a few millimetres from the edge.

EMBROIDER

  • Embroider the label on the plain fabric, here we have chosen the First Grade font.
  • Pin and sew the label 4 cm from the edge of the glove

FINALIZING THE GLOVE

  • Fold the glove right sides together and fold the overhang inwards.
  • Install the standard foot A; thanks to its compensating spring, it will be easy for you to start sewing in the empty space, despite the thickness of the fabric.
  • Close around the glove with a straight stitch and then overcast with a zigzag stitch.
  • Turn the glove inside out.

Congratulations, your kitchen glove is finished.
